Hello mums,

I am really heartened that you are all so loving and concerned about your children!

I can only speak from the point of view of an ex-kid, as I am all “grown-up” and working now.

I was in mensa since I was 9, and yes – my teachers were complaining that I was day dreaming when I was in Primary School.

I suppose day dreaming is common. And my parents did expose me to a range of activities (outside school), and I did enjoy it – I did not find myself overwhelmed. However it really depends on the teacher/instructor. Some managed to make the courses/lessons so fun – that learning became fun!

Despite day-dreaming, I still easily got into the special stream in secondary school (it was the old system). So I would say, observe/encourage/explore – but not over-worry 🙂

Side note: I am also currently the Director of Internal Communications of Mensa Singapore. So if there are any activities/events you or your child will be interested in, please do drop me a note at [email protected].

Meanwhile, Mensa Singapore is also participating in Rise&Shine this weekend (about parenting)

If you are keen on the parenting seminar, you can use the exclusive mensa promo code: MENSA30 for a 30% discount off the listed price.
