Hi Chin Siang, I rejoin Mensa this year after a lapse of 25 years to see what this society has to offer. Seem rather dismay with the low membership count. I believe if you mentioned that Mensa Singapore is a family, the why not lower the membership or even free membership for students. For working adults you can say that it is pretty low at an annual fee of $60.00, students/nsf at $48.00. This approach looks like the management is being hijacked by the admin side who is only interested in paying members. If Mensa Singapore is to flourish, it should strategically price its membership to attract as many, if not all members. You can then recoup from organised events if there are critical mass. Try doing a survey and ask Mensa students to come up with an optimum pricing plus projected organised events to reap the maximum benefits for all Mensa Singapore. Maybe even good to get some of them to run the committee. If there are not enough critical mass, it becomes merely a recluse gathering without a permanent clubhouse. You may say I talk only. Yes it is true. But this is a suggestion for the admin members to consider. Perhaps Mensa Singapore can go knocking on some corporate or government agencies to use their clubhouse for free or nominal sum. I think the government would gladly help this intellectual society.
