Oh, I hated science and English when I was in secondary school. I only started liking reading more about science and developing my English language skills after secondary school 😛 A lot of primary and secondary school curriculum is very repetitive and makes the subject feels very ‘dead’. Try to persevere, when you get to University you have so many choices to study and pursue what you are interested in 🙂 Gambatte!
In the mean time, you can try to find other ways to study on topics and subjects that you don’t understand. For example, watching youtube videos, reading it up on wikipedia, even watching a movie or documentary on the topic helps to understand the concepts and theories, and maybe spark interest in the particular topic.
I tutor IB students psychology, and one method I use is to use a lot of experiments and stories to explain why certain theories is such, then I show them youtube video of what happened during the experiments. Even discussing with students what they feel about the experiment and challenge them to use critical thinking skills rather than just memorizing experiments, names of researchers and which year the research was conducted.
Btw in my opinion, the IB psychology is quite horrid. I would’ve done quite poorly in the subject if I took IB. The format which it is taught and examined makes psychology more like a history of psychology subject. Many of the experiments used are like 20-30 years old O_O
